Rotherham secured a comfortable victory against a fourth in the table Old Grovians side with centre Owen Swift again running in a hat trick in a nine try performance for the home team.
From the first whistle Rotherham dominated large periods of the game with some sound forward play. This gave the backs time and space to exploit with Swift opening the scoring after good work in the line out by Rotherham’s number six Mark Palethorpe. Rotherham were again strong in the lineout and scrum with Richard Westran and Scott Crookes putting in commanding performances.
Rotherham went further ahead when inside centre Simon Duke who kept up his recent try scoring form crashed over after a clever dummy pass deceived the rushing Grovians defence. Tries from Captain Jamie Morris and winger John Ratcliffe meant that Rotherham went in at half time with a 22-0 lead.
The second half followed the same pattern as the first half with Swift completing his hat trick and second row Westran crashing over from close range after stealing a Grovians line out. Number ten Tom Jenkinson added two further tries and a conversion with full back Ben Coleman also adding two conversions.
